Known for his rock numbers during the Project Superstar Competition II 《绝对 SuperStar II》in 2006, Kelvin was crowned 2nd runner up in the male category. He was then chosen by Royston Tan, a homegrown Singapore director to sing as the background vocal for the leading actor in one of his movies, 12 Lotus which was released in August 2008.

His persistency and hard work led him into a bigger entertainment field when he started his career in China. Through a series of contest such as 《挑战麦克风》 and 《无敌一号》, “ 孙文海” became the talk of the town in China and was signed on as a host with HuNan TV (湖南卫视), the top TV station in China. With his quick-wit and jovial character on stage, 孙文海 was well liked by audiences in China.

In January 2010, Kelvin made his return to Singapore and he became the first Male Performer to perform in Singapore‘s First ever Integrated Resort, Resort World Sentosa (RWS). Within 2 years he has made himself familiar with the Singapore market again; he was handpicked to be on the judging panel of 《黄金年华》,a popular show by Mediacorp Channel 8, invited to co-host with the well-liked Malaysian host Phoebe Yap on a ASTRO-STARHUB TV collaboration programme 《欢喜吃饱饱》, not just that he is also one of the five ambassadors of the established mobile brand Huawei 华为 to help increase brand penetration in Singapore and Southeast Asia.

Since then he has been a sought-after host for events ranging from formal to casual, entertaining audiences from the young to the old as seen in his frequent appearances in community events organized by Peoples’ Association.
